Gift ideas and inspiration for the people in your life who deserve to spend some time looking after themselves for a change.
Giving yourself permission to take a couple of hours of the day to get stuck into a great book is pure bliss. Whether it is a soul nourishing self development book, an inspiring autobiography or escaping into another fictional world, you just can’t beat it.
Here are some of my favourites that make great gifts:
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
Wabi Sabi by Beth Kempton
Yes Please by Amy Poehler
Playing Big by Tara Mohr
The Life Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo
The Inner Beauty Bible by Laurey Simmons
His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
My Story by Jo Malone
You can heal your life by Louise Hay
The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer
Daring Greatly by Brene Brown
The Happy News Paper - if you know someone who could use a regular dose of uplift, this newspaper is a real treat.
Yoga subscription - fab for someone who struggles to find time to get to class but still wants to practice with really great teachers
Monthly gift boxes - here’s one I love from Merkaba which includes products and tools to nourish the mind, body and spirit
Gardening boxes - I truly believe that gardening feeds the soul. There’s something about getting your hands in the earth and watching things grow. The Grow Club sends a mix of flower and food seeds in the post each month.
TREATMENTS + SPAS
I meet so many women who feel guilty about taking time out or spending money on their own well being which is just such a shame. If you know someone like this who rarely makes time for themselves, buying a gift voucher for massages or a trip to a spa can be the most precious gift.
Aromatherapy massage or facials with me in Impington, Cambridge - this has to make it on to the list : )
Reflexology - I can recommend the incredible Miranda Boulton who works around the Cambridge area as a mobile therapist. Bonus that you don’t even need to leave your home!
PLANNERS + JOURNALS
Keeping a journal is a really simple yet powerful self care practice worth developing. It’s so encouraging to see tonnes of new planners and journals popping up, here are some of my favourites:
The Positive Planner - full of sunshine, this planner encourages daily reflections, weekly mood tracking and mindfulness activities as well as everyday organisational extras such as meal planners and shopping lists.
Personalised notebooks - LOVE these personalised notebooks from ‘& so they made’.
AROMATHERAPY AT HOME
Aromatherapy and mental wellbeing go hand in hand. Essential oils are like natures medicine cabinet and can be selected and blended for exactly what someone needs on a particular day.
Gift ideas for introducing someone to aromatherapy:
Diffusers and essential oils - vapourising essential oils at home is one of the most effective and safest ways of getting started with aromatherapy. A bonus is they also make amazing gifts.
Aromatherapy baths - the ultimate way to unwind after a tough day is with a therapeutic bath to created to relax the mind and body combined.
Book on essential oils - for someone wanting to expand their knowledge of aromatherapy, this is a great book to start with.
This may seem a bit ‘out there’ for some of you but don’t be put off. Crystals are one of my absolute favourites for self care. You can choose a crystal to represent something you’re seeking on a particular day, be that courage, clarity in communication, feeling grounded etc and as well energetically supporting, they act as a positive physical anchor. Plus, they look amazing!
Crystal jewellery - super practical and beautiful way for someone to carry a crystal with them all day.
Guide to crystal healing - straight talking guide to crystals without the fluff
Crystal plant holder - not sure it gets any better than plants and crystals combined!
Crystal candle holders - there is something inherently magical about crystal candle holders. This links to my Protective Selenite Candle holder and there are so many wonderful options out there depending on what you feel the person you are buying for would find most valuable.
I hope this helped you find a special gift to inspire your friends / family and spread the message in the value of taking time to honour yourself.
Here’s to a joy filled festive season.
PS - I am doing my very best to support independent businesses when buying my gifts this year, hence why you won’t find any links to amazon above. Go Indie’s!!!
